Places to Visit in Ajmer:-

The Dargah of Moin-ud-din Chisti

The tomb is placed at the base of a barren hill and is also widely known as Khawaja Saheb or Khawaja Sharif. The shrine is so well-known that it is believed next only to Mecca or Medina for the Muslims of south Asia. Actually Emperor Akbar used to build a yearly pilgrimage to the Dargah from Agra. The whole shrine has contributions from dissimilar kings and emperors. The vast entry gate was constructed by the Nizam of Hyderabad. A white marble mosque on the right side of the courtyard is the Akbari Masjid. A new mosque in the courtyard was constructed by Emperor Shahjahan. The saint's tomb covered by a splendid marble dome lies in the middle of the second courtyard and is surrounded by a silver stage. The shrine hosts a fair during Urs marking the death anniversary of the Saint. It is held from the first to six day of the Islamic month of Rajab. A great number of pilgrims come to see the Dargah during this time.

The Adhai-din-ka-jhonpra

Placed beyond the Dargah, this is an astonishing combine of Indo-Islamic architecture. This structure has this inimitable name because it took only two and a half days (Adhai Din) to entire its construction. In the first place built as a Sanskrit college, in 1193 A.D. Mohhamed Ghauri reversed the building into a mosque by adding a wall with 7 arches, in frontage of the pillared hall.

Taragarh Fort

The fort is situated on top of a hill, which is a one and a half hour climb beyond the Adhai-din-ka-jhopra. The fort was employed as a military depot during the Mughal era and as a sanatorium by the British. The fort offers a great outlook of Ajmer city.

Kishan Garh

On the road to Jaipur, 27-km from Ajmer is situated this medieval treasure residence of art. This place had one of the best schools for tiny paintings during 18th century. This town of artists is also famed for Gundelao Lake, Phool Mahal Palace, Temple of Sri Kalyan Raiji and the Majhala Palace.

Mayo College

Mayo is one of India's debut public schools; it has now been changed into the Circuit House. The Ana Sagar Lake and the shrine of Swami Dayanand, founder of the Arya Samaj group can be seen from here.

Lakes:-

Ana Sagar Lake

This lake was made by Anaji during 1135-1150 AD. Later the Mughal Emperors made extra structures to smarten the lake. The 'Baradari', a marble pavilion was constructed up by Shah Jahan and the Daulat Bagh Gardens were placed by Jehangir. This lake is situated towards the north of Ajmer city.

Foy Sagar

This non-natural lake was built during a famine release programme. Identified after the engineer responsible for its construction, the beautiful lake is five km from Ajmer.
